Altum Consulting are supporting a media tech brand to recruit an experienced Senior Vice President of Tax to lead its domestic tax strategy and operations. This senior leadership role will oversee all aspects of U.S. federal and state taxation and provide strategic direction on complex domestic and international tax matters.
As part of the wider international finance leadership team, the SVP Tax will work closely with finance, legal, and executive stakeholders to build and maintain a robust tax framework that supports compliance, scalability, and long-term business growth. This position offers an opportunity to shape a high-performing tax function within a dynamic, evolving business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and execution of the U.S. tax strategy, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Advise senior management on the tax implications of domestic and international business activities, including complex corporate and shareholder matters.
- Support M&A, restructurings, and other strategic transactions by developing and implementing efficient tax structures.
- Partner with global finance and tax teams to manage transfer pricing, intercompany transactions, and funding arrangements.
- Oversee U.S. federal and state tax audits, inquiries, and related matters, engaging with authorities and external advisors when necessary.
- Manage U.S. tax accounting and reporting processes under ASC 740, including deferred tax analysis, effective tax rate forecasting, and disclosures.
- Monitor developments in U.S. tax legislation and regulations, identifying potential risks and opportunities for the business.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and governance initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and control across tax operations.
Candidate Profile
- CPA or equivalent U.S. professional qualification required; advanced degree (JD, LL.M., or MST) preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in U.S. taxation, ideally combining public accounting and in-house corporate roles.
- Deep understanding of U.S. corporate and international tax principles, with experience managing complex, multi-jurisdictional structures.
- Strong working knowledge of ASC 740, U.S. GAAP, and federal/state tax reporting requirements.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across business functions.
- Commercially minded, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
