Senior Finance Business Partner
location: London
practice area: Charity and Public Sector
job type: Interim
salary: £550 - £600 per day
сonsultant: Robert Anderson
date posted: 30/07/2026
A major UK-based foundation is seeking an experienced Interim Senior Finance Business Partner to provide senior-level financial support across its Operations portfolio, covering areas including digital technology, finance and legal.
This is a six-month assignment, expected to begin in mid-August or September and run until the end of March. The role will pay approximately £550 per day, with some flexibility for an exceptional candidate.
This senior business partnering role will provide guidance and oversight to Finance Business Partners, act as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, and support several significant transformation programmes already under way.
A major focus will be supporting large and complex financial models connected to transformation projects, including programmes involving finance systems and digital technology. The core models are largely established, so the organisation is not looking for someone to redesign everything. Instead, the successful candidate will be able to understand sophisticated existing models, maintain momentum and add practical value without introducing unnecessary change.
The Interim Senior Finance Business Partner will be responsible for:
- Providing senior financial support across Operations, including digital technology, finance and legal.
- Advising and constructively challenging senior stakeholders on financial performance, risk and decision-making.
- Supporting major transformation projects and the financial models underpinning them.
- Reviewing and interpreting complex analysis, budgets, forecasts and business cases.
- Helping Finance Business Partners manage priorities and deliver high-quality support to their stakeholders.
- Ensuring financial considerations, controls and risks are properly reflected in project planning and delivery.
- Producing clear financial insight and reporting for senior leadership.
- Working collaboratively across Finance and wider operational teams.
- Providing continuity and stability during a period of significant organisational change.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a qualified accountant with strong senior finance business partnering experience.
- Have experience supporting complex transformation, technology or systems programmes.
- Be highly confident working with large and detailed financial models.
- Have strong commercial judgement and the ability to translate financial information into practical advice.
- Be able to build credibility with senior and demanding stakeholders.
- Bring a calm, steady and pragmatic approach.
- Be comfortable guiding other Finance Business Partners without needing formal line-management responsibility.
- Have experience gained in a large, complex organisation, ideally within industry or another operational environment.
- Be able to work effectively with established processes and models, improving them where helpful without seeking to change everything.
- Be available to begin an interim assignment in mid-August or September.
This would suit an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner who enjoys working with senior stakeholders and complex financial models, and who can provide a reassuring, capable presence during a busy period of transformation.
