Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to join a leading media and Technology organisation on an initial six-month contract. This role will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and supporting key statutory and management accounting activities within a fast-paced and evolving business.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team, partnering with stakeholders across the business to ensure financial information is accurate, compliant, and delivered to tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports.
- Ensure the timely completion of month-end close activities.
- Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and ensure financial data is complete and accurate.
Statutory & Compliance
- Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with IFRS and UK GAAP where applicable.
- Support the external audit process, providing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with other regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and financial controls.
Business Support
- Partner with finance and operational teams to provide financial insight and analysis.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting processes.
- Perform variance analysis and present findings to key stakeholders.
- Contribute to financial planning and decision-making by providing accurate and timely information.
Process Improvement
- Review existing financial processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support finance transformation initiatives and systems enhancements.
- Assist with ad hoc projects, including process automation and reporting improvements.
Person Specification
Essential Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, statutory accounting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Workday.
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within industry but not essential
- Experience supporting finance transformation or process improvement initiatives.
- Audit background
