We are partnering exclusively to recruit a Financial Accountant for a leading UK charity dedicated to reducing baby loss, improving pregnancy outcomes and supporting families through pregnancy and childbirth. Through research, healthcare partnerships, support services and advocacy, the organisation works to drive lasting improvements in maternal and baby health across the UK.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls and supporting audit and compliance activities across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post month-end journals, including fixed assets, investments, tax and intercompany transactions.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and support the production of monthly and annual accounts.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and statutory financial reporting.
- Review payment runs and ensure strong financial controls are maintained.
- Reconcile income streams and investigate discrepancies.
- Prepare VAT returns and support finance systems and process improvement projects.
- Provide support across accounts payable and receivable functions when required.
About You
- Experience supporting the production of monthly and annual accounts.
- Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organised, self-motivated and able to work to deadlines.
- Experience within the charity sector and knowledge of SORP would be advantageous but not essential.
