Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Finance Director to lead the finance function within a well-established UK subsidiary of an international events business. Reporting to the UK Managing Director and part of the leadership team, this is a broad, operational role focused on strong financial control, reporting, and planning in a stable, BAU environment.
This position will suit someone looking for a long-term role where they can take ownership, work closely with the detail, and add value through consistency and incremental improvements.
The Role
You will be responsible for the end-to-end financial management of the UK business, while also overseeing key back-office functions including HR, IT, procurement, and office operations. Managing a small team, this role requires a proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to operate with autonomy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year planning
- Managing monthly reporting, variance analysis, and submissions to the European Group
- Maintaining strong financial controls and identifying process improvements
- Overseeing statutory reporting, audit, and tax compliance
- Managing cashflow and liquidity planning
- Reviewing contracts, procurement, and company policies
- Supporting commercial decision-making, including pricing and business cases
- Assisting with integration activities and liaise with Group M&A teams
- Overseeing payroll, benefits, and HR administration
- Managing external advisors (audit, tax, legal)
- Line management of a small team
About You
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong technical accounting and reporting experience
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and methodical
- Hands-on, proactive, and able to work autonomously
- Experience working with both local teams and international/group structures
- Commercially aware with strong stakeholder communication skills
