Payroll Lead

Altum Consulting are recruiting for a Payroll Lead to join a technology business based in London. The successful candidate will standardise payroll processes & drive vendor optimisation to establish a robust payroll operating model.

Role:

• Set the vision for payroll excellence, creating efficient and compliant processes across all regions.
• Serve as a senior advisor to leadership on payroll-related risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing across multiple countries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with local regulations.
• Build and maintain a robust global payroll governance framework, including controls, audits, and quality standards.
• Manage relationships with external payroll vendors and technology partners, ensuring high service levels and cost-effective solutions.
• Partner closely with HR, People Operations, and Finance to align payroll with organisational goals, workforce planning, and compensation strategies.
• Provide clear reporting, insights, and analysis to senior leadership, supporting strategic decision-making.
• Lead global payroll transformation initiatives, including system upgrades, new country launches, process redesign, and automation projects.

You'll be/have:

• Proven track record in payroll transformation, process redesign and vendor optimisation.

• Extensive experience managing payroll processes in complex environments.
• Proven track record overseeing multi-country payrolls, ideally within the tech sector or a similarly fast-paced global organisation.
• Deep understanding of payroll legislation, compliance, and reporting across multiple international jurisdictions.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at executive level.
