The role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Lead to support a significant capital project focused on an office relocation and redevelopment within a large healthcare organisation. This role will provide dedicated financial leadership across the programme, from early planning through delivery and transition into business-as-usual operations.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will be responsible for ensuring strong financial oversight, clear reporting, and robust commercial and cost management arrangements. You will act as a key finance contact for internal stakeholders and external partners, helping to put in place the financial frameworks required to support successful project delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Lead financial planning, reporting and governance for the capital project, ensuring timely, accurate and meaningful information for senior stakeholders.
- Develop forecasts and scenario models to assess the financial impact of changes in cost, scope or delivery timelines.
- Identify and manage financial risks and issues, working closely with the wider project team to develop and implement mitigation strategies.
- Act as the primary finance interface with external advisors and delivery partners, supporting cost control and value-for-money decision making.
- Prepare financial papers and insights to support executive and board-level discussions.
- Develop and maintain financial models, tools and processes to support effective cost management and change control.
- Support the development of commercial and operational financial arrangements associated with the new office location.
- Contribute to the transition from project delivery to business-as-usual operations, ensuring appropriate financial processes are in place for ongoing facilities and operational costs.
- Ensure alignment with organisational finance policies, procedures and reporting timetables.
About you
You will be a proactive finance professional with experience of supporting complex projects in a fast-paced environment, comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders.
You will bring:
- Strong experience in financial business partnering, ideally within capital projects, estates, infrastructure or relocation programmes.
- Solid understanding of cost management, forecasting and financial modelling.
- The ability to operate comfortably at all levels, combining strong influencing skills with senior leaders and trustees with a hands-on, delivery-focused approach which involves "rolling the sleeves up"
- The ability to work independently and provide clear, practical financial insight.
- Experience engaging with external consultants or suppliers.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present financial information to senior stakeholders including trustees
Qualifications
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Additional qualifications in construction or project management or experience in project finance, commercial modelling or project delivery are desirable.
