Senior Commercial Finance Manager

A brilliant, globally-renowned scientific research organisation is in need of a Senior Commercial Finance Manager to help navigate the Commercial Finance team through a period of change and act as a strategic business partner to key stakeholders. In this role, you will provide financial insight, support business planning and evaluate initiatives from across the organisation. It will involve a high degree of financial modelling, scenarios planning and horizon scanning. This position blends financial expertise with strategic thinking and strong stakeholder management for Exco and ultimately Board . This interim role will report into the Head of FP&A for an initial six-month period, will pay £700-800/day (inside of IR35) and will be based in the Central London office three days per week. As the Senior Commercial Finance Manager your role will include

• Act as a trusted advisor to ExCo, providing insight, challenge, and exception-based reporting.
• Influence strategic decisions through financial challenge and alignment with commercial and charitable goals.
• Lead financial strategy through changing priorities and BAU, supporting ExCo and programme directors.
• Oversee Partnering for Equity and international finance strategy alongside major global programmes.
• Lead long-range planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow development.
• Build robust business cases and post-implementation reviews.
• Consolidate financials across segments and liaise with the investment team.
• Design and deliver reporting strategy, KPIs/OKRs, and variance analysis.
• Prepare leadership performance packs and support strategic stress testing.
• Maintain financial models for scenario planning and economic forecasting.
• Contribute the annual report.

The ideal Senior Commercial Finance Manager will:

• Be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CA/CPA/CIPFA or equivalent)
• Have experience leading commercial finance teams within fast-paced environments
• Have first-class reporting skills
• Be a champion of equality and diversity
