job type: permanent
salary: Up to £65,000.00 per annum
сonsultant: Robert Anderson

We are pleased to be partnering with a unique, globally focused NGO as it grows its new UK base.
The organisation works across governance, policy and global security and is now seeking a Finance Manager to help build a strong, scalable finance function and provide high-quality financial insight across the organisation.
This is a broad role combining financial planning, management reporting, donor finance, business partnering and continuous improvement. Initially, it will include a significant hands-on element as systems, processes and controls are developed. As these become more established, the role will increasingly focus on value-added analysis, strategic planning and business partnering-although these will be important responsibilities from day one.
About the role
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will help ensure the organisation has the financial information, systems and processes required to support effective decision-making and continued growth.
Key responsibilities will include:
Producing timely, accurate management information for senior management and the Board
Supporting the CFO with financial planning, organisational performance and risk
Designing and leading the annual budgeting process, working closely with budget holders
Providing regular cost-centre reporting, forecasting and financial analysis
Acting as a finance business partner to programme teams and other non-finance stakeholders
Leading donor budgeting, financial reporting and financial input into new funding proposals
Monitoring donor expenditure and advising teams on budgets, compliance and reporting requirements
Developing an effective approach to cost attribution across different donors and programmes
Leading donor audits and supporting wider assurance activities
Working with external bookkeeping, payroll, tax and accounting providers to deliver an efficient month-end process and strong control environment
Reviewing and improving finance policies, processes and systems
Supporting the assessment and potential implementation of a finance system suitable for a growing, multi-donor organisation
The balance of the role will develop over time. In the early stages, you will need to be comfortable getting into the detail and helping establish reliable day-to-day processes. As the finance infrastructure matures, there will be greater scope to focus on analysis, organisational planning and proactive business partnering.
The ideal candidate will bring:
Full or partial qualification as an accountant, such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA
Experience working with not-for-profit organisations and/or donor-funded programmes
A good understanding of donor budgeting, compliance and financial reporting
Experience producing useful management information, budgets and forecasts
The ability to interpret financial information and communicate it clearly to non-finance colleagues
Experience developing and implementing financial policies, processes or systems
Strong stakeholder-management and business-partnering skills
High levels of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail
Confidence working with Microsoft systems and Dynamics 365
A practical, flexible and hands-on approach
Experience in a start-up, scale-up or growing organisation would be particularly valuable. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in an environment where some processes are still being developed and will enjoy creating the foundations for a more efficient and insight-led finance function.
