Finance Assistant | £29k | Permanent | Charity | London/Hybrid
This Finance Assistant role is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established charitable foundation. The role will have a key focus on taking ownership of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring invoices, payments and supplier accounts are managed accurately and efficiently. Alongside this, there will be opportunities to gain exposure to wider finance responsibilities including reconciliations, journals and month-end processes. A good understanding of accounting principles, particularly debits and credits, will be important, but equally key will be finding someone with a proactive attitude, a willingness to take ownership and a genuine desire to learn and develop their finance skills.
Key responsibilities;
Take ownership of the day-to-day Accounts Payable function, ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and on time
Maintain supplier accounts, responding to queries and ensuring records are accurate and up to date
Assist with the preparation of weekly and ad-hoc payment runs
Process staff expenses, credit card transactions and other financial transactions
Complete bank and supplier account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
Assist with month-end processes including journals, accruals and prepayments
Support the wider finance team with reporting, audit requirements and improving existing processes
Person specification;
A good understanding of basic accounting principles, particularly debits and credits
Some experience working in a transactional finance role, ideally with exposure to Accounts Payable
Strong Excel skills and good attention to detail
A proactive and enthusiastic individual with a genuine desire to learn and develop their accounting knowledge
A self-starter who is comfortable taking ownership of responsibilities and working independently
Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the organisation
Experience within the charity sector or using accounting systems would be advantageous but isn't essential
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career within a friendly and supportive team. The role would be ideal for someone who has built a foundation in transactional finance and is now looking to take greater ownership of an AP function whilst continuing to broaden their accounting experience. The organisation offers a collaborative working environment, flexible working arrangements and excellent benefits, including 27 days' annual leave plus bank holidays. The right attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to develop will be just as important as previous experience.
