Interim Commercial Revenue Accountant - IFRS 15
6-Month Contract | Day Rate | London / Hybrid | International Travel Required
We are partnering with a global technology business looking to appoint an experienced Interim Revenue Accountant for an initial six-month assignment.
This is a broad, commercially focused and business-facing role supporting the organisation through a period of finance transformation. The successful candidate will take the lead on understanding the existing revenue recognition landscape, strengthening IFRS 15 policies and ensuring accounting treatment appropriately reflects commercial contracts, deal structures and business performance.
You will act as a key link between Finance and the wider commercial organisation, providing technical revenue expertise while helping the business understand the financial implications of customer contracts and commercial decisions. The role operates across an international finance function and will require international travel to work with key stakeholders and regional teams.
The role will include:
- Reviewing the existing contract base and understanding how revenue is currently being recognised
- Establishing and documenting clear revenue recognition policies in line with IFRS 15
- Reviewing complex customer contracts, commercial terms, deal structures and revenue recognition milestones
- Partnering with Commercial Finance and FP&A to understand the revenue impact of commercial decisions
- Providing guidance on the financial and accounting implications of new and existing customer agreements
- Identifying key revenue recognition risks, commercial considerations and areas for improvement
- Working closely with Commercial Finance, FP&A, Financial Controllers and shared services
- Improving processes, controls and reporting around revenue recognition
- Supporting better visibility and understanding of revenue performance, contract economics and key revenue drivers
- Supporting the transfer of revenue accounting knowledge and responsibilities into the wider Finance function
- Working alongside an ongoing ERP implementation and wider finance transformation programme
- Travelling internationally as required to partner with regional finance teams and key stakeholders
The ideal candidate will have:
- Strong hands-on IFRS 15 and revenue recognition experience
- Experience reviewing and interpreting complex commercial/customer contracts
- A strong technical accounting foundation combined with a commercial and pragmatic mindset
- The ability to translate technical accounting requirements into commercially relevant insights
- Experience partnering with Commercial Finance, FP&A and senior business stakeholders
- Experience working across multiple international entities
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence across Finance, Commercial and offshore teams
- Experience improving, documenting or implementing revenue recognition processes
- Technology, software or telecoms experience would be highly advantageous
- ERP implementation or finance transformation experience would be beneficial
- Availability and flexibility to undertake international travel throughout the six-month assignment
This is a great opportunity for an experienced interim to take ownership of a business-critical, commercially important project, working at the intersection of technical accounting, commercial finance and business performance within a complex international organisation.
