Assistant Group Financial Controller
Altum Consulting are supporting a global services brand to recruit an Assistant Group Financial Controller responsible for the financial accounting oversight of the corporate entity, consolidation of group results, and assistance with financial information preparation for the group team.
The objective of this role is to provide consistent and high-quality management information to the Financial Controllers and the Financial Director.
Core Responsibilities:
- Preparing and sending weekly cash flow forecasting templates to all subsidiaries.
- Monitoring submission and consolidation thereof.
- Preparing weekly working capital reports (from Tagetik/SAP) for board insight, amongst other management reporting.
- Maintenance of the corporate entity\'s books, which includes:
- Analysing actuals versus budgets on a monthly basis.
- Investigating accruals processed by the Shared Service Centre (SSC) to confirm adequate accruals are in place.
- Preparing the monthly trial balance, balance sheet review, and P&L analysis for Financial Controller review and ultimate insight of the Financial Director.
- Responsible for understanding each item on the balance sheet within each reconciliation (how it will settle, when it would unwind or materialize).
- Calculating monthly service fee for intercompany transactions.
- Role in Budget/Latest estimate process, includes:
- Preparation of underlying information sheets to create the budget per cost centre in the corporate entity.
- Defining booking matrix for SSC from Budget per GL account per category of cost/service fee.
- Consolidation of the group budget and latest estimate results in Tagetik.
- Preparing the budget and latest estimate information into the required format for shareholder reporting.
- Preparing management reporting using Tagetik for board insight.
- Assistance to Financial Consolidation Controller, which includes:
- Preparing monthly consolidation in Tagetik.
- Posting journals/reclassification in Tagetik.
- Preparing tables and insight into the monthly reporting to shareholders, including analysis to better explain results for internal use.
- Assisting teams across Europe, UK, and Asia to submit financial packs timely.
- Resolving errors/hiccups which users encounter while using Tagetik (with the intention of improving knowledge and usage of Tagetik, to minimise our reliance on external consultants).
- Responsible for checking controls, reconciliations of group submissions.
- Assistance in preparing certain schedules and notes for the annual report.
- Proposing and implementing improvements to better the financial hygiene of group reporting and accuracy.
- Providing assistance with SAP users across the Group with functional queries/errors.
- Providing assistance with ad hoc group projects for compliance (e.g., e-invoice), IFRS compliance (e.g., IFRS 18), and any others of importance to the board and shareholders.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of operational finance and management accounting principles.
- Knowledge of financial processes and the full accounting function.
- Proficient computer skills (Excel).
Experience:
- Previous experience with an accounting function and financial processes.
- Previous experience with consolidation is an advantage, but not a prerequisite.
