Altum are partnered with a medical membership organisation in recruiting for an Assistant Director, Head of Finance and Operations to join its senior leadership group. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected, values-led organisation and play a key role in shaping how its resources are used to maximise impact for members and the patients and communities they serve.
This is much broader than a traditional Head of Finance position. Working closely with the Director of Corporate Services and Infrastructure and the wider Leadership Team, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across finance, facilities, operations and procurement. You will also play an important role in organisation-wide transformation, ensuring the organisation remains financially and operationally sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading the finance, facilities, operations and procurement functions, with responsibility for a team 4 (wider team of 10 in total)
- Acting as a strategic partner to the Director of Corporate Services and Infrastructure and wider Leadership Team
- Providing clear financial and operational insight, constructive challenge and recommendations to support decision-making
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and wider financial planning
- Developing business partnering across the organisation, ensuring resources are aligned with strategic priorities
- Maintaining strong financial controls, compliance and risk management
- Leading improvements across finance systems, processes and ways of working
- Overseeing procurement, business continuity and operational resilience
- Leading significant organisation-wide projects and programmes of change
- Creating a collaborative and accountable culture across the team, while working effectively through matrix leadership
Person Specification
- A fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA or equivalent)
- Significant senior-level finance leadership experience
- Experience across both strategic and operational finance
- A strong track record of transformation, systems improvement and process development
- An inclusive and collaborative leadership style with previous team management experience
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial and operational matters clearly
- Commercially and strategically minded, with the confidence to constructively challenge senior stakeholders
- Motivated by working within a values-led organisation and contributing beyond the traditional finance remit
This is a great opportunity for an experienced finance leader looking for a broad and influential position within a purpose-led organisation.
