Management Accountant

Salary: £54,000-£60,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: East London (hybrid working - 1 to 2 days in the office per week)
Contract: 6 months with possible extension

Altum Consulting is proud to be partnering with a UK charity aimed to improve the lives of the marginalised to find a Management Accountant. You will provide forward-looking financial insight that supports strategic decision-making and organisational sustainability. Reporting and analysis sit at the heart of this role, with responsibility for preparing monthly and year-end management accounts, cashflow forecasting, and performance dashboards.

You will also play a key role in supporting bids, business cases, and strategic projects, ensuring proposals are underpinned by robust financial modelling and scenario planning. In addition, you will contribute to audit processes by preparing high-quality management reporting that complements statutory and compliance activity led by the Finance Controller.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and year-end management accounts, delivering insightful commentary to inform decision-making.

• Produce cashflow forecasts, performance dashboards, and variance analysis to support financial planning and organisational sustainability.

• Provide robust financial modelling and scenario planning to underpin funding bids, business cases, and strategic initiatives.

• Collaborate with senior leaders and managers to improve financial understanding and guide operational and strategic decisions.

• Support audit processes by delivering high-quality management reporting that complements statutory and compliance activities.

About You

We are looking for a qualified accountant or a finance professional with extensive experience in management accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis. You are proactive, analytical, and able to translate complex financial data into clear insights for non-finance stakeholders. You thrive in collaborative environments and are motivated by making a tangible impact on social outcomes.

• Proven experience in management accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis.

• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders.

Desirable

• Experience in the charity, public, or not-for-profit sector.

• Track record of supporting funding bids or business cases.

• Expertise in financial modelling and scenario planning.

• Experience with Microsoft Business Central or similar financial systems.
