Senior Systems Accountant | Amsterdam | Hybrid Working

Altum Consulting is partnering with a listed, global investment firm to support their search for an experienced Senior System Accountant based in Amsterdam.

This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic, international finance team and take ownership of systems operations, process improvements, and automation within a sophisticated and diverse environment.

The Senior System Analyst will focus on maintaining and enhancing the functionality, efficiency, and integrity of accounting and reporting systems. This hands-on role combines system operations, project management, and the development of innovative, automated solutions to support the investment accounting process.

Role & Responsibilities:

Own and improve our finance systems

• Set up new investors, entities, vehicles, deals and allocation rules correctly and efficiently

• Maintain and refine system templates, reports and master data so everything runs smoothly

• Act as a super user, solving day to day system questions and issues

Drive smarter usage and optimisation

• Run system tasks such as scripts, SQL queries and database updates to keep data accurate and usable

• Manage upgrades, data feeds and new tools, making sure changes land well with the team

• Keep documentation clear and up to date so others can follow best practice

Build automation and innovation into the process

• Work with users to understand what information they need and how they use it

• Design and build automated reports, checks and analyses that reduce manual work

• Spot system inefficiencies and fix them with elegant, scalable solutions

Lead projects from idea to delivery

• Plan and manage system and accounting projects that improve the way finance operates

• Coordinate stakeholders, timelines and resources, and keep everyone updated on progress

• Make sure solutions are robust, tested and embedded in the day to day process

Coach and develop others

• Train junior colleagues on systems, tools and best practices

• Share knowledge and help lift the overall technical level of the team

Education & Experience

• Educated with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, or Information Sciences or equivalent
• Additional training in accounting and/or systems development preferred
• Minimum 4 years' experience in systems/applications analytics role or accounting
• Advanced proficiency in Excel including VBA, SQL, and accounting systems
• Comfortable handling and analysing large data sets
• Experience with Access Databases or similar tools is a plus
• Excellent communication skills, fluency in English is essential
• Must hold a valid EU passport or work permit for The Netherlands
