Senior Systems Accountant

Altum Consulting is partnering with a leading global investment firm to recruit a Senior System Accountant based in Amsterdam. This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic, international finance team and take ownership of systems operations, process improvements, and automation within a sophisticated investment accounting environment.

The Senior System Accountant will focus on maintaining and enhancing the functionality, efficiency, and integrity of accounting and reporting systems. This hands-on role combines system operations, project management, and the development of innovative, automated solutions to support the investment accounting process.

Role:

System Setup & Maintenance (20%)

• Configure new investors, entities, vehicles, deals, and allocation rules.
• Maintain and improve system templates and reports.

System Usage & Optimization (20%)

• Perform system-related tasks (e.g., scripts, SQL queries, and database updates).
• Act as a super-user, training junior staff and ensuring best practices.
• Execute upgrades, manage data feeds, implement new tools, and maintain documentation.

Innovation & Automation (10%)

• Analyse user requirements to improve information flow.
• Develop automated reports, analyses, and validation checks.
• Identify and resolve system inefficiencies through innovative solutions.

Project Management (40%)

• Plan, manage, and deliver system or accounting projects.
• Oversee resources, monitor progress, and report outcomes.

Coaching & Development (10%)

• Provide training and guidance to junior colleagues.
• Support skill development across the team.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Economics, Business Administration, or Information Sciences.
• Additional training in accounting and/or systems development preferred.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in systems, accounting, or control roles.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (including VBA), SQL, and accounting systems.
• Experience with Access Databases, Crystal Reports, or similar tools is a plus.
