We are delighted to be partnering with Parkinson's UK on a significant finance recruitment campaign as the organisation enters the next stage of its multi-year modernisation programme. As part of this campaign, Parkinson's UK is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to lead on management accounting, financial reporting and process improvement across the charity.
Parkinson's UK funds vital research, campaigns for better care and provides support to people affected by Parkinson's. The charity is in a fortunate position within the sector, with secure funding and the ability to invest in its people, systems and longer-term ambitions in order to best support those affected by Parkinson's.
Following a major directorate restructure that began last year, the most substantial changes have already taken place. The focus is now on building a strong, collaborative finance team, improving systems and processes, and supporting the delivery of an ambitious five-year strategy.
This is an opportunity to join a supportive leadership team at a point when new colleagues will have a genuine say in how the finance function develops, without having to navigate the uncertainty of the initial restructure.
The Senior Management Accountant will take responsibility for producing accurate and timely management accounts, developing reporting tools and improving the quality of financial information across the organisation. This is a hands-on role with considerable scope to improve existing processes, introduce greater efficiency and automation, and contribute to the implementation of a new finance system.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
- Developing financial reporting tools and providing analysis of organisational performance, trends and variances.
- Supporting annual budgeting and forecasting, including developing and consolidating planning templates.
- Producing cashflow, establishment and other financial reports to support organisational planning and decision-making.
- Maintaining effective financial controls and ensuring accurate management of restricted and designated funds.
- Supporting the preparation of annual accounts and external reporting requirements, including grant and funder reporting.
- Improving management accounting processes, reporting tools and the quality and accessibility of financial information.
- Contributing to the implementation of a new finance system, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency and automation.
The ideal Senior Management Accountant will:
- Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Have strong management accounting experience, including producing management accounts, financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Have excellent Excel and analytical skills, with the ability to develop reporting tools and improve existing processes.
- Bring experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
- Have a sound understanding of financial controls and charity accounting requirements, including experience managing restricted and designated funds.
- Be comfortable taking ownership of technical accounting and reporting responsibilities, with excellent attention to detail.
- Have an interest in financial systems, automation and improving the efficiency and quality of reporting.
- Be adaptable and comfortable working in an environment where systems and processes are still developing.
- Bring experience from the charity or not-for-profit sector, with an interest in contributing to the work of Parkinson's UK.
Parkinson's UK operate on a hybrid-working model, with two days each week required in the Central London offices.
