Head of Financial Operations

A highly important and well-known UK charity, conducting research into and supporting those with a serious degenerative illness, is in need of an Interim Head of Financial Operations on an initial three month contract, with likely extension, to support during a particularly busy period and in the lead-up to a restructure. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with a strong technical finance background from within the charity sector to secure a competitive daily rate while helping to put a brilliant organisation into a stronger financial position.

As the Head of Financial Operations your role will involve:

• Supporting the Senior Financial Accountant with the year-end model, including building a parallel detail from the current accounting system to reduce the dependency on a legacy and disconnected model
• Building the in-house expertise to remove any ongoing external help for year-end
• Beginning the cycle for the next year-end accounting process
• Building a resourcing map with the current team for year-end, and help to build key annual tasks into quarterly and monthly tasks
• Identifying and supporting tasks from FP&A in conjunction with the finance analyst to Fin Ops and starting the allocation of those works within the Fin Ops area, via the Senior Financial Accountant

The ideal Head of Financial Operations will:

• Be a qualified accountant
• Have strong technical charity accounting experience including charity SORP
• Have an understanding of strong systems and processes and the ability to implement them
