The Role

As Finance Manager, you will manage the financial processes for our US subsidiary, a non-profit entity that generates most of the income. You will oversee the full trial balance, lead month-end and year-end close processes, and serve as the key contact for external audits and tax filings in the US.

In addition, you will support certain UK-specific financial processes, including managing Gift Aid claims and preparing VAT returns. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will collaborate closely with the Fundraising Team to ensure financial operations run smoothly and with precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the US entity\'s full trial balance, ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Lead financial statement close processes, including month-end and year-end closure.
  • Serve as the key contact for the US external audit, working with auditors to produce statutory accounts and tax filings (e.g., 990 and 1099 forms).
  • Reconcile income and process all incoming funds, including those raised at high-profile fundraising events.
  • Manage payroll for US-based staff and process staff benefits.
  • Coordinate with legal teams on annual state filings in the US.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and Gift Aid claims for the UK entity.
  • Process intercompany transactions between the US and UK entities.
  • Liaise with external partners such as banks, payroll providers, investment managers, and fundraising platforms.

About You

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled finance professional who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. You will be organised, proactive, and passionate about our mission.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA) with at least two years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a charity or non-profit setting.
  • Experience in external audit or working with auditors.
  • Familiarity with US 501(c)(3) non-profit organisations is desirable, but an openness to learn US-specific accounting, payroll, and tax processes is essential.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • A high level of integrity and professionalism.

In return you will receive a high level of flexibility with 1 day minimum per week expected in the central London office, a generous holiday and pension allowance as well as private medical insurance.
